Mood

It took some searching,
But I eventually found that my collector's tendency will come in handy as a fashion designer.  To my dedicated readers:  you remember those "inspiration on the go" pages that I gave instructions on how to make?  Well those have an official fashion designer name:  mood board.  Tracked down some good ones here.

Was trawling across google images and found this: and love it.  Blue.  Belt.  Necklace.  Black.  Gorgeous perfect hair that no one has (except for Jane, the Sea of Shoes writer)

Obsessing

I've recently talked my mom
Into letting me share a Pinterest account with her.  I now have my own personal board and I can pin as much as I want on there.  So, alas, I have been obsessing.  What about?  Believe it or not, peacocks.
I found a beautiful picture of a blond lady in a lacy blue dress stroking the most beautiful peacock and ever since then I've wanted to own one when I grow up.  I don't care if they're noisy, I don't care if they're exotic and not allowed on military bases, I want a peacock.  Although I'm in love withe white ones, I want a peacock.  I saw a couple pictures of a purple one, but I'm not sure if it's really a picture or color changed.  I don't care: I WANT A PEACOCK!!!

I should go now before I give you people a head ache.

DIY and Best

One of the best
Outfits I have ever had the pleasure of putting together is demonstrated here.  From top to bottom:  DIY necklace (see at the bottom of the page), Justice "It's cool to be me!" tee-shirt (It just goes with everything), Land's End sweater which goes with just about everything I own except dark purple and black, fake-wrinkled skinny jeans that I wear more than I probably should, and of course, my favorite boots.  And the critics rejoice.

Do-It-Yourself Fast Necklace:
Supplies:

  • Necklace chain
  • Old too small, too big, or too gaudy ring
  • charms (optional)
How-To:

Got a ring that you will never wear?  Not for long!  Simply string it through an extra necklace for an intriguing, interesting necklace charm.  Also mix and match with your other favorite charms for different appearances.

Life

The World SO needs to know...
The details of my pinprick, uninteresting life.  So I thought I would share them.
Collage Pro: the answer to all you photo-editing dreams (I actually have had some of those...)  Anyway, me to the ninth power.

Meet Snuffles (also known as Charles Snuffles De Valencia) Found him and Costco and had to have him.  Seriously fell in love.  Isn't he cute?
This photo demonstrates a couple of things.  First of all:  this is my second cousin Ali, who lives in Seattle and lives and teaches Fashion History in a college.  Second:  Ali is my total inspiration for fashion designing.  If I hadn't had met her when I was eight, then I probably never would have started designing and who knows what I would want to be when I grew up?  Third:  I love photo editing!  I can give practically anyone a face lift on my fave Apps:  Collage Pro, piZap, and my favorite (and the best) Aviary.

As my dedicated readers know, this is my dog Skoshi; I would be very lonely without her.  This is one of the best photos of her that I could find, most are just a blur.  That is one of her igloo beds.
That is my life in a couple of photos.

Bleh

There's something special in the air...
And I for one wish it would just go away.  Allergies have plagued me for days now, I even had a fever for two miserable nights and a day.  Why why why did God make allergies?  I wonder if Adam and Eve had allergies, because I don't see any reason why those who were made perfect should.  Sniffle.

Bye for now, I'm feeling extremely bleh and decided not to write.

Help

Fashion deprived peoples:
I'm going to teacher the world a lesson or two on coordinating clothes.  In fact, here's an idea!  Just make it a little course that I'll be posting over time to make you fabulous.   Get ready for some serious fab.

Lesson 1:
Black.
Black is the most amazing color in the universe, because, along with silver, white, and grey, it can go along with ANYTHING.  Black, silver, white, and grey are fundamental for any outfit.

Coordinating with the Fundamentals:
I'm going to take one of my favorite and simplest outfits and show off what the fundamentals can do with a series of pictures.

Regular dress: notice the black, grey, and pink going so well together.
Add a black shrug with ruffles for a touch of class...

...Or a silver one for flash!
Let's say you decide on the black shrug.  Add black tights because the hemline of the dress is rather high.
Now you could add silver boots or black heels, or branch out and use your hot pink flats.  So ends our first lesson.

Oasis.

The weather has been
Sunny, warm and cloudless, so I've been spending my weekend in tee-shirts and shorts.  I am ready for summer!  Even though it's only February, it's Texas.  I'm confident in it's hot reputation for warming up extremely quickly.  As for you peoples over on the East Coast, my pities.  Not really!  Just glad I'm not in your place!
The sun streaming into our secluded oasis of a living room makes me want to run free of chores, school, or the annoying stitches I get in my side when I try to run farther than a football field.  Or tromp through the woods, minus misquotes, deep "quick mud" that I used to run into (I once had to clean a friend's socks off in a river because of a patch of that stuff) or thorns.  Or go on an endless zip line.  I swear that light has hypnotic abilities, not to mention being semi-concrete.

Infinity

My Inbox of Ideas
Is now overflowing with them, all begging to be used (use me! use me!  use me!)  In desperation, I had...you guessed it!  An idea to siphon off some ideas from that really tall stack of them.  My idea: a never-ending, making-no-sense poem!  Which, as I described, makes no sense, but it works.  I though I would give you some bits of the ten pages I've written (I'm assuming you don't want to read the whole thing).  Warning: this poem makes no sense.

[this section is from page 5 of my poem]
Dragons, serpents, and unicorns,
   Fawns (or saytiers) too.
Man and Goat,
  Not two, but one.
What fun!
  Great Griffins and-
I'm late for class!
I really have to run and get there fast!

[this next section is from the very beginning of the poem]
Rules are stupid,
Don’t you think?
Writing and running,
And fixing a leak.
Rules rules rules.
Some rules are good ones,
That matter a lot.
But some are quite stupid,
About things that matter not.
Because you are silly as corn,
If you think poems must have specific form.

[this last bit is from page 10 and is one of my favorite sections, so I'll do the whole page]

What does blue sound like?
Many things actually.
It depends on who you are,
If you’re speaking factually.
For me it sounds of
Ice cracking,
Water splashing,
My dad complaining about his blues on Monday,
Hawaiian beach music on the wind,
And the silence of the early morning,
When you just can’t get back to sleep,
With the radio playing quietly,
The sky outside cobalt blue,
A pencil twixt your fingers,
Staring contest with wide-lined paper,
And a dash of exhilaration when you find
Just the right idea,
When it’s 4:30 and you don’t mind.
OR
When you get just the right book,
Where it was lurking hidden in a dusty corner
And there’s a warm windowsill in the quiet foyer.

Thank you for reading! Hope you enjoyed it.

Skoshi

My Dog is more than a
Domesticated gangly mutt to me.  She is the sister I never had, the company I've always wanted, and the foot warmer I never knew I needed.  True, the dog does dumb things (growling at the laundry basket for example) but the little friend is company on the darkest of nights and the saddest of moments.  I don't know what I would do without her.

Hey, if you think the creature below is the cutest thing you have ever seen and that she must be so sweet, you have fallen under her spell and the only cure is for you to meet you.  For your information, this one has managed to get on our counter and eaten 21 hot dogs and a couple of chicken breasts, not to mention used to bring in beheaded grasshoppers and let them twitch on our rug.  Pleasant and sweet, hmmm?

I thought I would include a photo of my little pup.
The black-ish blur to her lower left is her tail by the way.  We think that she might have broken it, but it's not hurting her so whatever.  Aren't her eyes so lovable?

Anit-Military

It seems my entire life
The military has micromanaged and supervised me.  Sometimes, I look out the window and say to myself "it's all so temporary!  In a couple of months, I'll be hundreds of miles away, and my heart ripped to pieces again."  Friends, my house (I can't really call it a home - I've never had one of those) and this past move my dad - just gone.  To tell the truth, I feel like the man in "Fiddler on the roof"  Have you seen that movie?  In it, there is a Jewish family living in Russia.  They are poor and not a very fortunate family.  In it the movie, the father asks God, "you know, it's great to be your chosen people and all, but for just once, can't you choose some one else?"  And that's how I feel.  It's not just everyone in the military.  I have a pair of best friends in New Jersey who are my age and just moved for the first time that they could remember.  It sometimes seems that everything that could happen to us (being the military) has happened.  I don't want advice.  I don't want pity.  I don't want any "I had the exact feeling when I was a kid".  I just want to put this everlasting observation out into the cosmic expanse, which I know is copied almost word for word from You've Got Mail but it sounds good anyone.

Random question: does it seem to all those military peoples that they always paint the housing with the exact same color of off-white?

It's a good thing I don't speak my mind about the military, because otherwise I'm sure that black un-marked vans with men in suits and sunglasses would come and drag me away (by the way, in case you can't tell, that was supposed to be a very bad joke).  So I don't.  And if you happen to see me in person don't ask me.

Random question:  did anyone see Frozen or the Lego Movie?  They were both really good.

Clothes

Hiya, just showing you
What I'm wearing today - in fact my whole style right now.

  • Favorite Music - Veggie Tales (I know it's stupid, but Larry gets me every time)
  • Favorite Food (that I get on a regular basis) - Thomas cinnamon brown sugar bagels toasted and buttered
  • Favorite Color - Turquoise
  • Favorite Scarf - My snuggly turquoise scarf with tassels
  • Favorite Earrings - "Mini-Disco" studs
And my outfit!  See here:
Fave scarf, jacket (lavender with cream fuzzy inside, and jeans.  Oh, and one of my fave shirts

Better look at shirt (it's from Justice and has lasted longer that every other piece from that stupid place which recently has looked a sparkly neon explosion)  It says "It's cool to be me!".  Whatever.

My absolute FAVORITE boots!!!  Sparkly, silver-perfect!  And comfy....  They're still selling them at the local Walmart if you want them.  I know it's sad, but they were on sale!

Wishes

The Christmas Depression Syndrome is setting in -
I finally wrapped my mind around the fact that I have to wait for October to come around before I get anymore presents!  Fortunately, I have discovered the cure for CDS.  Make a wish list (it helps if you half expect to get some of it)!  So, I have taken the time to group my wishes together:

  1. Earrings - I'm a little picky here because I'm allergic to most metals, so I need either stainless steel or surgical steel earrings.  Stick with small hoops or studs.  Like these flashy new earrings I just got - check it out!  Bottom of page.  Well, kinda flashy.
  2. iTunes/App store cards - I think this is pretty clear.
  3. Scarves - Infinity or Regular, any color (well, except grey, I got on of those for my birthday and I can't seem to match it with anything!) as long as it's not itchy.
  4. NO MORE NAIL POLISH!!!  I have enough nail polish to last me three years!
  5. I can never have too many notebooks (ignoring what my mom says).  Lined, blank, leopard print covers, air force covers, spiral bound, book bound, pencil holder, no pencil holder...I don't care - just notebooks!
  6. Fashion related books or design sketchbooks - fashion history, fashion design, fashion for dummies, how to design, coordinating clothes for dummies, just nothing on MAKING clothes, because that of all things I am NOT into.  (strange, because I want to design when I grow up....)
  7. Skittles.  Period.
And that's my current you-can-give-me wish list.  Not that I'm expecting to get any of it...just saying.  I do have my own money....

Magic

I went on a small vacation
Down to Ogee Acres.  The place has a magic no sorcerous can summon and no wand master.  The sun speckles the cedar-filled acreage in a dizzying pattern of clouds and thin branches.  The sweet scent of the oak bark and cedar berries was wafted to me on a soft breeze.

There are many kinds of magic, and my trip to OG's was one of them.

SHAPE

My school is the most
Amazing, fabulous, interesting, cool, awesome, invigorating, enthralling, riveting, odd, staggering, shocking, stupefying...er...educating facility ever.  Me and my friend Mia (she's in my class) wrote this post together because more eyes are better than one.
We're in the very small 6th grade which includes She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Mia, Zion, and I.  She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named (she was very angry with me for including her name and so I edited this post) has a certain love for GermX which I will not delve into with detail, but I will say that it has caused stains on the classroom's walls.  Zion...well, the best way to describe Zion is to tell you of a poem that I wrote:
Zion.
Zion eats the foulest things,
Like glue and germx and thick metal rings.
He scares me with his

Freeday!

I'm totally rocking right now because
It's snow day even though the most snow I've seen is metaphorical (isn't that the most wonderful word).  Apparently it's supposed to get worse around pick up so SHAPE Academy canceled for today.  Anyway, I still am supposed to do the work that was scheduled for today, except only two teachers have sent emails yet, so I'm free and scheduling posts for like the next forever.  It's a good plan.

What do I plan on doing today?  Well, for one thing, I'm stuck inside, so there's a small issue.  Also, I can't play wii or on my iPad because today's Tuesday and those electronics are only allowed on weekends.  (you have to admire my mom's genius - I hate it)  The only book mom will let me read right now is this ancient copy of Robin Hood that uses thees and thous so it stinks - reading is off the list.

So what am I doing today?  I have no idea.

Cracked-up me

I really, truly, totally,
Crack myself up sometimes.  I'll start doing weird dance moves (including "wounded baby eagle" and "Egyptian chicken", which I invented all by myself) in front of the mirror and I'll still be giggling fifteen minutes late.

Now I forgot what I was going to say!  >grump grump grumble<

Scarf

I'm am going to share some of my fashion wisdom with you.
Pay attention!  The art of the scarf....

I personally know five different styles for wearing a regular scarf (I won't cover infinity scarves here).  Here are the various styles:
1: Hanging
2:  Thrown over the shoulder
3:  Tight twist
4:  Loose twist
5:  Complicated twist /braid
Since #5 is "complicated", I shall explain how to do it.
Start with a loose twist
Twist the loop, left over right.
Take the right "tail" and insert it in the loop from the top

Take the left "tail" and insert it in the loop from the bottom

Pull down on both tails to tighten

Fluff and loosen around the neck
You're done!
There you have it!  Class dismissed.

SOS!

I decided I love Sea Of Shoes (SOS) so much...
That I'll share some of her fantastic photos from the last year -

The scarf here may be huge (I could never wear it!) but I love the jeans and the stripy shirt!

This is her chiuahua (I have done my best with the spelling), and I'm not a huge fan of such creatures (one tried to bite my nose when I was six) but I know there are people out there who do.

Love the jeans - there is nothing left to say.

Cute poncho, cute boots, cute hat.  Period.

She wore this to a haute couture party and I fell in love with is.  The shirt is just gorgeous!

Sweet shirt!  It matches her beautiful hair.

Spin!  I adore those heels, I'll find another photo with them so you can get a better look.

She looks so pretty in this picture - I MUST HAVE THAT JACKET!!!!

I love her bike photos; she somehow manages to ride with a skirt (I could never do it {not that I tried})

I told you I would find those heels.  She looks so...young in this photo.
Ok, I have to go now, dinner (and my mother calls).
