Art Survey

Skimming Pinterest
Should be an official talent.  Like...who can find the ten best photos in ten minutes.  Speed-pinning.  It should be a thing.  Anyway...

So this is how this is going to work.  I have five categories for you (will show you in a minute) and you comment on the category that you love the most.  I.E. whatever category of art work you like the most, I will do that kind.  I also have the photos below that I will use as inspiration so you're not just blindly choosing.  Survey ends April 30th (the end of the moment).  Anyway the categories I'm using are:

  1. Disney Fandom
  2. Anime/Manga
  3. Dragons/other Fiction
  4. Nature
  5. Other Regular Art Junk
And those are your choices.  I have a particular five Pinterest-found pieces of art/photos that I found that are going to be my inspiration for each of these categories.  Here they are.

Other Regular Art Junk

Nature

Disney Fandom (bonus points this is also Star Wars!!!)

Anime/Manga

Dragon/other Fiction

So that's the categories.  Make your decision what you want me to do.  By the way, I might just have to do one of these these anyway...must do artwork...must.....

Mystery Map

So you’ll never guess
My most recent art project.  Actually, you never will guess, because I just got an idea, no internet, nothing.  Ok, never mind there was a little Pinterest involved in this, but ANYWAY let me actually get to the point.

I’m making a Hobbit Map!!!  *non-exsistant web-audience goes wild*

Its a 100% authentic, hobbit-rune, hobbit-style map.  This isn’t the completed map, but it’s getting there.  I finished all the drawing of it last night, writing the authentic hobbit runes (SQUEE!!!) for all the labels and the border, and finished making those cute little drawings of trees that all cool, old-style maps have.  Here’s a photo so you can see what the heck I’m talking about.
Hobbit Map!  :-)

So yes, that is my AWESOME Hobbit-y map…it’s scrumptious, juicy, AND crunchy!  I’m a huge Hobbit fan.  Who liked the new movie?  And who’s planning on getting it on disk the instant it comes out?  Actually, don’t do that, from all the rumors flying around its going to be super expensive so I would wait.

Getting back on subject, once I’m done it will be caligraphy-style inked, authentically tea-stained and weathered map.  I can’t wait to show you guys!

Chapter 1
The Stranger in the Kitchen

Cassandra Deanna Dorian had always been a nice, normal kid.  She was what she called hazelnut brown-haired (though many called it “a frizzy mass of mouse brown stuff”) and had extraordinarily blue eyes.  She was short for her age, skinny, and quiet.  Her favorite aspect of her appearance was her strange, but interesting, overly pointed ears which caused her mother called Cassandra ‘faery ears’.  She was 12, and in 6th grade.  She went to school in a big, red brick building called Watson City North School.  Watson City had three schools, the North School, the East School and the South School.  The South school taught Pre-K through 5th.  The North School taught 6th through 8th.  The East . . . 9th through however many grades there are.  Cassie didn’t know.
She did know that she was practically invisible to anyone.  A qhost in a hoodie and jeggings that was always trying to be noticed with no effect.  Cassie, as she prefered to be called, had no friends and

Silver and Gold with Ali Basye (Again)

So I had this whole series of posts where
I talked about my trip to the Philadelphia Art Museum, along with my visit with my awesome college teachin' cousin (she teaches English funnily enough, and Mom asked for her assignments for my English class next year. Don't know whether that's a plus or a negative.  :-|  )  Anywho, remember I mentioned that besides visiting the Patrick Kelly; Runway of Love exhibit, I also visited two other exhibits, one called Gerlan Jeans Loves Patrick Kelly and Silver and Gold.  I realized that although I posted about Gerlan Jeans, I never did post about Silver and Gold, which was really cool (and small).  So here are the photos (finally):
I actually could picture myself wearing this.!

Riddle Me Sweet

If you'll look back,
Through the murky depths people call your memory and pluck out that one sticky thing, you may suddenly remember that thing I invented called Riddle Quest.  Here this may refresh your memory.

I have concocted an ingenious plan!!!

A riddle contest…on here!  As you can see on my title, it will be known as "RiddleQuest".

If you are a riddle lover, or want to win treasure (I just said the magic word), you have to solve all the riddles I post until I officially declare the RiddleQuest over.  At the end of the contest, there will be one SUPERhard riddle that will be the key to winning the contest.

Ok, did that bring anything up?  Anyway, I'm going to try this again, but this time the rules are changed slightly.  Here they are for you riddle-lovers or those who just want to know what is in the super-secret prize pack you might get if you are the winner.
  1. Read each weekly riddle and try to solve it.
  2. Write the all answers neatly and clearly on a piece of paper (keep it secret and safe so no one can steal your answers.  Of course, that would work against them if you answer was wrong.)
  3. When the quest is over, put your answer sheet into an envelope.  Label it "RiddleQuest" and put you name on it.
  4. *You have a three day window to give the RiddleQuest envelope with your name on it to me or mail it to me.  If you are mailing, be sure to have a date somewhere where I will see it but where the post office won't get mad.  Like maybe on your list.
  5. After recording all the answers.
There will be rules to the RiddleQuest, and if you break them you will be disqualified.
  1. You must get at least 80% of the riddles right to win.
  2. Be sure to turn in* you RiddleQuest envelope (with your name on it - you can't win anonymously) within the three day time window (remember: if mailing include the date!)
  3. Do NOT share your answers with ANYONE until the quest is over.  I trust you not to!
  4. You may not work together with ANYONE (a repeat of #3)
  5. There will be no sneak peaks into the prize box or at the next riddle or at the answer sheet so don't bother trying to get any out of me.
Good luck on you quest…it starts NOW!!!

Book 2

Redo of post called "Book" - Prolog
Prolog
A man ran through the dark.  Although he was quite early for his meeting, the idea of the rewards and riches he would be given for this information was too spectacular to wait out in the cold for.  Plus, the Princess would be pleased about his early appearance.  That would definitely mean a bonus in his prize.
He skidded to a halt by the fourth gate he saw on the dirt road.  Gazing up at the dark, twisted mansion in front of him, he began to have doubts; this was where she wanted he to meet her, right?  Taking no chances, he carefully slipped through the creaky gate and hurried up the overgrown path, past a lawn that hadn’t been clipped in years.  Taking no notice of the fade rose bushes clinging to his coat, he pulled out of the thorns to the cracked, mossy steps.  He walked up them, feeling sudden waves of dread and excitement wash over him time after time.  Reaching up, his fingers groped for and found a cold rusty knocker, which he swung back and dropped.  A resounding thud echoed across the landscape.
The huge oak doors opened by a crack.  Two dimly glowing eyes peered out at him.  A disembodied female voice spoke from the direction of the eyes.  The voice made his hair stand on end.  Choppy and rough, there was something irresistible about it.
“You are the one to meet us here tonight?”
The man said in a voice a little higher and squeakier than usual, “Er, yes.  I am here to tell you the information you said you would pay me for.”  Seeing the distrust in the eyes, he quickly added, “It happened tonight.”
“I see.  Come in.  Do not try to fool us this time.”
The eyes vanished and the door swung wide to allow him entrance.  He nervously stepped in.  The door seemed to swing shut by itself.  He heard the soft click of the door being locked.
“Uh...”  He whispered. “I-I don’t th-think that the door needs to be locked right now.  Nobody else is going to come here.”
The only answer he got was a smile inlaid with perfect white teeth that shone in the shadows.  The voice said, “This way.”
A dark figure led him down a hallway.  The only light was the moon beams through the dusty-framed windows.  A white hand loomed from the darkness, it pointed towards a door on the man’s left.
“In there...no questions are really necessary.”  When he paused, he received another ghostly grin.  He noted, shocked, that the person had all pointed teeth.
Now the man felt even more nervous as he stepped into a dark room.  He was told to sit by the voice, and feeling that it would be best not to do otherwise, did so.  He glanced at the doorway just in time to see the creepy white teeth disappeared into the gloom and the door silently close.  Now a different voice spoke, cold in its nature, but smoother.
“My friend has told me that you have the information we need.”
“Ah, yes.  You will pay me for it as we agreed on, yes?”  Squeaked the man, not at all pleased to see his shady employer again.  After a moment, he wondered how she could have been told anything if the creepy female butler had not entered the room with him.
“Payment?  Ah...yes, all in good time.  Now, the information, please.”
The man didn’t like the sound of that.
“The girl came home, stayed for 43 minutes, and then the woman you showed me a picture of came out of her apartment.  She walked to the park on the corner of Magic St. and Dorian Blvd.”
“Dorian?”
“Yes, Dorian,” He snapped. “The woman disappeared in the center of a park, where the Great Giant is.  I have watched them.”  He threw his head high and strengthened his feeble, girly voice so that his host would recognize his impatience.  There were many people that would like to get their grubby police hands on him, and staying in one place too long was dangerous.  “I need my payment, and soon.  Soon would best be now.”
Ignoring the request, the smooth, sweet voice said, “Do they know that they were watched the entire time?  Or, a better question, did the woman seem...preoccupied?”
“No, mam.  She barely even stopped or looked around the entire time.  It was most easy to watch them; a child coul-”
“You have done well.  Now, for your payment.”
The man felt a leap of joy pierce his nervousness.  This is why he did these dirty jobs - for the money and jewels that they provided.
“How much?”
“Did you think, “ said the voice, now stern, “that I would pay you with worthless cash?  Or gold?”
“Ah-”  He honestly didn’t know what to say, so it was good that she cut him off.
“No, no.  I am going to give you something greater.  Have a drink.”
Resisting the sudden urge to run, the man nodded and accepted the drink, or better, concoction, that appeared at his side in a champagne glass.  He sniffed it, but spent no more time examining for poison - he didn’t want to be rude to his employer.  Lifting the sickly lime green slush to his lips, he drank.  The man keeled over instantly, falling on the ground sluggishly.  The glass slipped from his hand and shattered; lime green goo splattered everywhere.  A slim figure stood up and stared coldly down at the figure, unperturbed and somehow not coated with the glutinous and glowing slush now all around the room.  A stout woman hurried in, white teeth still shining in the moonlight.  She was carrying a jeweled box and was the first to talk.
“Is his life over, or is he sleeping?”
“He is sleeping, but not for long.  The knife, please.”
A knife appeared from the box and was handed to the tall woman.  A twisted, evil-looking black knife slashed the man deeply.  His heart beat stopped with a jolt.

Both figures left the room, the sweet-voiced villain wearing a cloak just now visible.  The walked out the door and down the mangled path.  Behind them, the house burst into flames.  Both walked on.

Coverstory

This is the back cover of my book.
I've had many people ask what my story is like, and when I can't answer, they say, "well what's on the back cover".  So here you go.

What would you do?
Cassandra Deanna Dorian is as normal as they get.  But when strange things start happening in her town, she just has to get to the bottom of the mystery.  In her search, she discovers a world where things are different, a world where everyone knows her name, a world where Cassie finally belongs.  But even there, things are not as they should be.

What happens next?  Find out in this daring, fast-paced original story, The Icy One.  (See sneak peeks on my website).

About the author:  Noelle Matherne is a happy twelve-year old girl in New Jersey, where she lives with her military dad, home-schooling (and brilliant) mom, her min pin Skoshi, and a very strong-willed cat named Joey.  This is her first book.
