Here's what you're thinking:
I can't blog. No way. It is WAY too hard and only tech-savys can do something like that anyway. Besides, WHERE I am getting the time to actually POST on this so called blog? What is a blog anyway?
Well, I'm here to tell you >sigh< that all four of those points (too hard, techies only, time, and no clue by the way) are all wrong. So here I am to fix some of those things.
Point No. 1: What is a blog?
Actually, a blog stands for weB LOG. It's actually a really recent discovery (in the last 25 years or so) but there are now millions of them as well as hundreds of "free" blogger builders. Some blogs are small business looking for a way to build a free, cool-looking website. Others are people who keep their identities secret and vent their issues (for that, read the web safety pamphlet thing). Anyway, the one I use, which is www.blogger.com, is pretty easy-to-use, totally 100% free, and excellent for a brand-new blogger (which I am not, but that's beside the point)
Point No. 2: Is it hard to start up?
Not at all! For Blogger, all you have to have is a email address and about half-an-hour. Just go in, and then there are step by step instructions, plus it's really easy. If you're still not certain, have a former blogger or someone who's really comfy with the computer just to be sure.
Point No. 3: Do you have to be super computer cool to do one?
No way. It might help to know some basic vocabulary, such as link (hyperlink, to be precise), page break, bullet and bullet (no, not the killing machine, the thing you use to make outlines.) If you're still unsure of yourself, have someone who knows her (or his) computer well.
Point No. 4: Where am I going to get time for this?
Oh, that's really easy! You can pre-schedule posts so that you get a full week's worth of posts in one day. That's how I did International Blogging Day (shudder) although that many was grueling. Anyway, posts don't have to be fancy schmany, just a little joke, or what's going on in life. Posts don't even have to be daily, or even weekly. You can be like me, where you can go into huge detail for three days and then not post for three weeks.
So there you have it! And I know exactly what you're thinking now that you've read my blogger myth busters: Gee, if it's so easy, I want one! Have fun, and if you ever need help, just take a look at the blogger crash course that I'm going to be making soon! Bye for now!
